QuiltCon West Recap!

Last week we visited Pasadena for QuiltCon West! We shared an exhibitor booth with our sister company, Dear Stella. Visitors could win prizes, snag some cool temporary tattoos, and stitch up “helping hands” charity blocks with us.

Here are some photos of our booth before the event kicked off. We arranged lots of fabrics, sewing supplies, and prizes, plus a mini quilt table showcasing designs from Sassafras Lane! Thread and notions were generously donated by Prym Consumer and Aurifil Thread.

As soon as QuiltCon began, our booth was jam packed with quilters ready to lend a hand. We really enjoyed connecting with the community and getting to know everyone that stopped by! Look at all those smiling faces – the joy was contagious.

We collected almost 200 “helping hand” blocks at the show. They will all be used to make quilts that will be used to give back to the Pasadena community. Stay tuned to our blog and social media for updates, and check out last year’s QuiltCon quilts here! We’re excited to see everyone’s handprints come together.

Of course, we also made sure to check out the beautiful quilts on display. They were breathtaking! Included in the show were several quilts that have been featured right here on SewTimeless.

Here’s Cindy Wiens’ “Delta Breeze” quilt featuring our Soho Solids:

And you might recognize this one, also by Cindy. It’s actually the back of the quilt, which she made using scraps leftover from the quilt top. Cindy ended up liking the back better, so she entered it into the show that way! We love how quilting can surprise you — this design never would have come to be without the original intended design. Check out the Bullseye Quilt here. (This side of the quilt was later named “I’ve Got Your Back”.)

The Candy Dots quilt by Timeless designer Samarra Khaja can be found her recent book Sew Adorkable! She used our basics to create a 3-D quilt that looks like a gigantic version of those sweet little vintage candies. You know how you’re never supposed to touch the quilts at the quilt shows? Well, Samarra made that challenging, as those puffy dots were quite inviting.

Farewell, QuiltCon. It was great seeing you again! Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth.
