Marti McGinnis

From her beginnings as an artist in Chicago, people told Marti McGinnis her work made them smile, and thus “HappyArt” was born. Marti draws, paints, sculpts, sews, animates, collages and otherwise turns the visions of her heart into upbeat whimsical art. She embraces all media and uses her creative explorations to accommodate her dreams. She’s a self described “color addict” and when she tools around with freshly dyed rainbow hair in her wildly hand painted art car she calls “The Lucky Mobile” you start to believe her.

She is an avid horsewoman and uses the gentle lessons of the equines she partners with to inform some of the key emotional elements of her work. She loves all animals and has dedicated much of her art to the inspiration they provide in all their many splendid forms; from their grace and resilience to their unyielding loyalty and natural abilities to be in and of each moment. She has sold her art from coast to coast in upscale fine art shows as well as overseas at gallery shows in France and Germany. She has several fanciful coloring books on Amazon and does commercial illustration for clients looking for a lighter touch.

She recently moved outside the gorgeous colonial city of San Miguel de Allende in the central highlands of Mexico with her husband, three dogs, two cats and one and a half horses (the half horse is a mini). She has found a new inspiration in the vibrance of the local culture and colors.
